If you’re a dog at Paris Fashion Week, a coat is recommended—a stylish one. Just ask Little Lola Sunshine, a Yorkshire Terrier and, according to The Times, “superbitch” who rocks haute couture fashion on the streets of Paris. Yes, she’s the skinny one wearing the pink Chanel blazer and white fringe tutu. The one twirling on her hind limbs. No, not that one. The one with the tail. Don’t worry, she grew the fur herself.

Beyond fashion statements, most dogs have enough hair to keep themselves warm in wintertime, although needs vary by breed. While Huskies will quite happily nap in a blizzard wearing nothing but their birthdays suits, shorthair dogs like Vizslas and toy breeds like Chihuahuas may need to wrap up in a jacket before heading into the cold.

So, when you ask yourself, does my dog need a coat? The answer is, probably not, but if you do go for it, consider houndstooth.
